Melissa Armas

Lead Strategist & Founder, AZ Collab

Melissa Armas is the founder of AZ Collab, where she designs intentional frameworks that connect data, operations, and collaboration. Her work spans global innovation, smart city pilots, AI strategy, and ecosystem design — with clients ranging from civic teams and NGOs to cross-border startups.

With 20+ years of experience in operations, project management, and digital inclusion, she brings a global perspective to ethical tech adoption and capacity-building.

Melissa serves on Arizona’s Governor-appointed Generative AI Steering Committee and leads the Global Innovation Collab (GIC), a cross-border initiative between Phoenix and Asia hosted at Venture Café Phoenix. Through AZ Collab, she supports values-driven tech adoption through human-in-the-loop models and data-informed strategy.

Melissa Armas is the founder of AZ Collab, where she designs intentional frameworks that connect data, operations, and collaboration. Her work spans global innovation, smart city pilots, AI strategy, and cross-sector ecosystem design — with clients ranging from civic teams and nonprofits to cross-border startup networks.

With over 20 years of experience in operations, project management, and digital inclusion, Melissa brings a global perspective to ethical tech adoption, data strategy, and capacity building. Raised in Venezuela and based in Phoenix since 2012, she is a systems thinker known for bridging complexity with context — especially in moments of transition, scale, or uncertainty.

A graduate of the University of North Texas with a degree in Management and Organizational Behavior, her work includes AI-supported decision-making, reskilling in cybersecurity and networks, and data literacy initiatives that equip teams to thrive in a digital world.

As of 2025, she serves on Arizona’s Governor-appointed Generative AI Steering Committee and leads the Global Innovation Collab (GIC), a cross-border initiative between Phoenix and Asia hosted at Venture Café Phoenix. Through AZ Collab, she advises on human-in-the-loop adoption models and supports founders, civic organizations, and NGOs navigating intentional, inclusive, and public-good–aligned technology transitions.
